Yultide 2020 Dear Author letter

bookhobbitHello! This is my first ever Yuletide, because even though I've been peripherally aware of it for a long time I've never been brave enough to sign up before. So if something about this letter seems weird or wrong, please feel free to disregard anything strange about it.
My general DNWs are major character death, major mention of bodily fluids other than blood, and kidfic.
General stuff:
I love character studies and relationship studies and in general deep-dives into people and their interactions. I also love pre- and post-canon stuff and missing scenes -- seeing what happens around the edges of the story is great to me. For older characters especially, I love backstory stuff.
AUs are also great! I'm usually more into alternate settings than canon divergence. Modern AUs for historical stuff, historical AUs for modern stuff, scifi and fantasy AUs for stuff that's not that, whatever -- it's just really fun to me to see the characters in a new setting.
Angst, bittersweetness, and hurt/comfort are very good. I love platonic relationships, so please feel free to sprinkle in any friendship your heart desires if there's one you like.
Most of the time I enjoy shippy stuff as well. I'm usually pretty multishippery, and I enjoy polyamory, ot3s, and general relationship negotiation. Smut is cool if you like writing it. This is usually where the bodily fluids squick comes in -- I don't like kink stuff with them like watersports or scat or bukakke or whatever. I like BDSM/power exchange/unexpected power dynamics in general (someone of a lower rank domming someone of a higher rank, or a strong-willed character subbing, for instance).
Trans headcanons, queer headcanons, neurodivergent headcanons, etc, are always welcome if that's the direction your inclinations lead you. When I get to fandom-specific I will note some of mine for fandoms where I have them, but I obviously don't want to dictate -- I will include them only in case they would be decent prompts. If this isn't a thing you enjoy writing in fic, please feel free to skip over them.

Childermass and Norrell's relationship and backstory is always really interesting to me, whether it's romantic or platonic, because I find both characters so fascinating and the way they interact even more so. I'm always interested in how Childermass came to work for Norrell. But stuff during the span of canon is also interesting -- just off the top of my head what about that time Norrell reprimanded the Duke of Devonshire for speaking over Childermass, what happened there? If you want to go for a postcanon reunion or just explore what both of them are doing postcanon that's awesome too. I am a wild multishipper for this fandom, so if you feel like tossing other pairings in there, feel free.
Headcanons you can ignore or take inspiration from: trans man!Norrell, autistic!Norrell, genderqueer!Childermass, ace!both of them.
Temeraire:
What the heck is happening on Tharkay's estate postcanon? I'm totally okay with shippy or not-shippy, I just want to know. Temeraire in Parliament? Tharkay doing a good job, or bad job, of figuring as a tyrant in the imagination of his tenantry? Laurence working on learning how to relax for once in his life?? If you decide to go with Tharkay/Laurence, I'm also interested in seeing a fic where they navigate that relationship without Laurence giving up his relationship with Jane. Obviously that's not obligatory though!
Back to the Future:
I'm always interested in reading new takes on how Doc & Marty met. If you go postcanon, I like Clara, but I'd prefer the story not be focused on romance if possible. Same with Jennifer. Family fics are fun if that's a thing you do! Headcanonswise: autistic!Doc, trans man!Marty.
Monstrous Regiment:
I just really love Genderweirdness in Monstrous Regiment, especially with Mal -- trans woman!Mal, trans man!Mal, nonbinary!Mal, whatever. I also like nonbinary or trans Polly! That aside, I just find Mal and Polly's relationship really interesting, and I'd love to see fic about their feelings for each other whether it's romantic or platonic. What are they up to? How are they changing Borogravian society? How are they surviving in the army?
Ghosts:
This was a last minute impulse add because I really love Mary, so I have less to say about it because I'm pretty open to anything. What was her life before dying like? How did she get burned as a witch? How did she and her friend Anne interact? What is her relationship with YOUR favorite ghost like?
